Welcome in Svitavy

The town of Svitavy is an important intersection since it lies on an international highway connecting Vienna, Brno and near by Polish border. Svitavy lies on the edge of the Czechomoravian highland, the border of Czech and Moravia. It is one of the most ecologically cleanist areas of the Czech Republic, where lies a castle of Svojanov, chasm of Macocha with a stalactite caves, Smetana´s Litomyšl with a renaissance chateau and other interesting historical places.

The history of Svitavy goes back to 12th century, when it was established as a small settlement to a St. Jiljí church. The pride of Svitavy is its square, composed of the baroque, romanesque and gothic style. Nevertheless the history has been primary created by famous characters like Oskar Schindler or a patron of the town V.O. Ottendorfer and J. Budig, who was a mayor of the town at the turn of 19th and 20th centuries.

You can visit a local museum, which is famous for its permanent exposition of washing maschines or an exhibition of the figure of Oskar Schindler in your leisure time. Or you can visit local multifunctional centre Fabrika. Sporty people will be pleased by two local sport´s centres, which offer lots of activities. You can visit local swimming pool or take a walk through the park of Jan Palach. The biggest teaser for the cyclist are the cycle paths which are spread throughout the region. About forty kilometers north from Svitavy lies sky resort Čenkovice in which you can use two skilifts and two ski cottages.

There is our pension in the centre of Svitavy – near the square. We look forward to meeting you!
